Program 01 — Forestry

Restoring Armenia's forests and landscapes

The Forestry program is at the heart of Armenia Tree Project's mission to restore forests, strengthen rural communities, and build long-term environmental resilience across Armenia.

Large-scale forest restoration

In 2025, ATP planted 1,000,050 trees across more than 250 hectares in nine communities in the Lori, Shirak, and Kotayk regions. These forests represent years of preparation — from site selection and ecological planning to planting and long-term maintenance. Each site is developed in close collaboration with local communities to ensure ecological suitability and long-term sustainability.

Environmental & community impact

ATP's forestry work directly supports rural livelihoods. In 2025, the program generated 506 seasonal jobs, providing more than 152 million AMD (over $400,000 USD) in income to rural households. Community members play an essential role in establishing and maintaining forests — improving tree survival rates while creating meaningful local “green” employment tied to environmental restoration.

Scaling restoration together.

ATP's forestry program is strengthened through collaboration with leading international climate and development partners, enabling ATP to scale its restoration work and contribute to Armenia's national climate adaptation goals.
